I have not posted in forever because Scott and I went on a trip through Europe with 39 students from Lassiter. We were also with two other couples that we are very close friends with. I was dreading this trip and hating Jeremy for the fact that he provided us with this opportunity. How can you turn down a trip to Europe? You can't, but who can leave their babies for 10 days straight to travel to the other side of the world? UGHH! Leaving was awful, but once I was gone things got easier. I was ok without my boys during the day because I looked at their pictures and talked about them a lot, but nights were very hard. I would talk to them before we went to bed and that made me miss them bad!!!
Anyway, now I have to thank Jeremy because we had the best trip and made the best memories! I am so glad we went on this trip and would love to go back.
We flew from Atlanta to Frankfurt, had a few hours layover because we missed our connecting flight from the storm in Atlanta that delayed our leaving, and then flew into London. We spent 2 days in London and had walking tours that showed us all of the sights and took us in all of the interesting places. Next we boarded a train in London and arrived in Paris! Paris was amazing and we loved all of the sights that we saw, but I would have to say I liked London better. After Paris we had a long bus ride to Lucerne (Luzern), Switzerland. This was Scott and my favorite place. We stayed in a little area that reminded me of Helen, GA. It was the cutest little town, but then we took a 10 minute drive and arrived in a really nice city area with great shopping and really pretty sights. It was there that we conquered Mt. Pilatus. We took gondolas to the top, rode alpine slides, took a train down to the bottom, and then took a boat back to the town. That was so much fun. From there we went to Liechtenstein, Innsbrook, and Munich (Austria and Germany.)
I loved every bit of the trip. It was so much fun. My favorites were London and Lucerne (Luzern.) The students were so much fun and we had a great time with them.
Memories to never forget:
- paying to use the restroom
- no ice in drinks
- no refills
- drinks tasting very different
- best croissants ever, especially with chocolate in them.
- small food portions
- paying for ketchup and mustard
- really nice rest stops on the highways-food wise
- yucky toilets without toilet seats
- crazy drivers
- going to beautiful cathedrals
- lighting candles and saying prayers in each cathedral
- hearing church bells every half hour
- hearing cowbells as we were conquering Mt. Pilatus
- watching everyone learn how to play cricket
- Going to the ATM to get money to use the restroom-only then to having to find someone to give us change to put into the machine to get into the bathroom. (Thanks Brandon and Molly for treating us to the restroom- We owe you!!!)
- Fun subways
- Tower of London
- Big Ben
- Changing of the Guards
- Buckingham Palace
- Picadilly Circus
- Louvre
- Versailles
- Eiffel Tower- Scott and Molly crying all the way to the top!
- Notre Dame Cathedral
- Boat ride through the Seine River (spelling?)
- Mt. Pilatus
- Neuschwanstein Castle- The hike to the top! (it is the castle that Disney copied when making all of the Disney castles.)
